is something wrong with spotting?

Hi,
    is there something going on with spotting at the moment? i am barely ever able to actually spot at the moment. i am quite happy with the way it works and have gotten used to having to really focus in before a successful spot. over the last couple of days though it works maybe once in every 20 attempts. i tried to eliminate some likely culprits but it just seems to be really inconsistent. i have made sure to be spotting someone totally stationary, and with a ping under 50, so they should be where they are on screen when i try to spot. i thought perhaps you cant spot if the enemy is too far away, even though that wasnt an issue before, but it still doesnt work right even at significantly closer ranges. i have tested it in amiens after creeping up on an enemy, so even in the same room it doesnt work properly. the keyboard isnt an issue either as the spotting works perfectly on bf4.
